About the Anise Seed Pack

Grow anise in direct sunlight. Anise should be planted in a protected area away from the wind. Herb from the Mediterranean region with licorice-like flavour. The plant develops into a bushy decorative herb and is lovely with its lacy leaves and plenty of white blossoms. Anise needs soil that is generally alkaline. Many types of moths and butterflies, such as the wormwood pug and black swallowtails, eat it for sustenance. The seeds have been used and are still used as a digestive aid by people all over the world because they are believed to reduce stomach discomfort and prevent gas.
Planting tip: Soak seeds in warm water for at least 2-3 hours. Direct sow seeds 1/2 inch deep and space them 1 inch apart when spring soil °T are above 15°C. If planting in multiple rows set the rows 2 to 3′ apart. Anise prefers being grown in alkaline soil. Require consistent watering until they are established.
Harvesting tip: For efficient anise seed collection, cut the stems below the flower heads, whether the seeds are ripe or green. If green, bundle the flowers, hang them upside down in a cool place, and let the seeds naturally ripen and dry, ensuring a container or cloth is below to catch them. If the seeds are already dry, shake the flowers upside down over a container or inside a bag to easily release the ripe seeds.
Storage tip: Make sure the seeds are completely dry, then place them in an airtight container.
