About the Orange Milkweed Seed Pack Orange Milkweed | Asclepias tuberosa | Certified Organic by Ecocert Canada | Perennial | Open Pollinated | Heirloom Beautiful clusters of bright-orange flowers that are 2.5” across at the top of the flowering stem. Bushy and compact plant up to 1.5 – 2“ of width. Attractive to pollinators. Used medicinally by Indigenous People. The species has not milky sap. Planting tip: Seed stratification is required for 2-4 weeks. Mix seed with a slightly moistened, sterile, soil-less growing mix. Put in a labelled, sealed plastic bag and store in refrigerator for one day. The next day place in the freezer for one day. Repeat for one week, alternating between the fridge and the freezer. After stratifying, plant seed 1/4” deep in pots. Keep moist but not soggy. When seedlings are 2” tall or more, transplant outside.Sow seed indoors 5 weeks before planting outside.
